In collaboration with the Hong Kongers’ Association in the UK and the local trade union, we brought the labour rights talk and exhibition to Cardiff and Manchester in November. Trade union representatives provided an overview of labour rights in the UK, as well as a meaningful debate with participants about the role of trade unions in preserving labour interests and the redistribution of resources in society. Some of the participants had recently arrived in the UK and wanted to learn more about working in the UK before entering the employment market. The exhibition depicting the history of labour struggle in Hong Kong reminded us of the force of the trade union movement and reminded us to continue its spirit.
We are planning to bring the talk and exhibition to Southampton in December. Keep an eye out and join our next event when it comes to your town or city!
