In this issue: Lest We Forget 6.4 | Hong Kong Diaspora | HK Labour Rights Newsflash | Event Recap
Today, the June 4 candlelight vigil has been banned, the chairman of the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China, Lee Cheuk-yan, and the two vice-chairs, Ho Chun-yan and Chow Hang-tung, have been imprisoned for violating national security laws. Several others, including Chow, were recently arrested on the accusation of acting with seditious intention as the ‘sensitive date’ approached.
However, we firmly believe that the regime can never silence the voices of mourning for June 4 worldwide. Those of us living abroad, while enjoying the freedom to speak the truth, bear a greater responsibility to carry on this struggle.

Hong Kong Diaspora
Helix Ha, the HKCTU’s former staff member, continues to uphold labour rights in Australia
Helix, who worked for the Hong Kong Confederation of Trade Unions, had to leave Hong Kong because of the deteriorating political circumstances during the 2019 protests. Fortunately, his youth in Australia provided him with valuable experience. In 2022, he went to Australia and rekindled his initial purpose by joining a workers’ rights protection agency to advocate for the rights of Hong Kong immigrants.

Protest against Apple Supplier’s Alleged Use of Forced Labour in China Factories
We joined the Workers against the CCP in Covent Garden, London, to protest Apple’s suspected use of alleged labour and anti-union policies in its supply chains in Xinjiang, China. The action has been ongoing for several months, taking place on the second Sunday of each month.
That’s a wrap for this month. We’d appreciate it if you could share this email with your network. It would help us reach a wider audience and increase awareness of #HKLabourRights. Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Threads for more updates.
