Elizabeth Tang, General Secretary of International Domestic Workers Federation (IDWF), former Chief Executive of Hong Kong Confederation of a Trade Unions (HKCTU) has been granted HK$200,000 cash bail and ordered to hand over her passport as bail conditions.
Tang has been involved in the labour movement since the early 1980s and was a staff member of the Hong Kong Christian Industrial Committee and HKCTU for decades. Tang was later involved in organising domestic workers from around the world, and participated in the establishment of Hong Kong Federation of Asian Domestic Workers Unions. In 2013, she was elected as the founding General Secretary of IDWF.
Tang had been detained for 2 days by Hong Kong national security police for alleged “foreign collusion” shortly after visiting husband Lee Cheuk-yan in prison on March 9.
