Elizabeth Tang Granted Bail after 2 Days of Detention

Elizabeth Tang, General Secretary of International Domestic Workers Federation (IDWF), former Chief Executive of Hong Kong Confederation of a Trade Unions (HKCTU) has been granted HK$200,000 cash bail and ordered to hand over her passport as bail conditions.

Tang has been involved in the labour movement since the early 1980s and was a staff member of the Hong Kong Christian Industrial Committee and HKCTU for decades. Tang was later involved in organising domestic workers from around the world, and participated in the establishment of Hong Kong Federation of Asian Domestic Workers Unions. In 2013, she was elected as the founding General Secretary of IDWF.

Tang had been detained for 2 days by Hong Kong national security police for alleged “foreign collusion” shortly after visiting husband Lee Cheuk-yan in prison on March 9.

國安通宵扣查兩日 鄧燕娥獲准保釋

國際家務工聯會秘書長、前香港職工會聯盟總幹事鄧燕娥3月9日在香港被國安人員以帶走,經兩日通宵扣查後,於3月11日獲准以20萬現金保釋候查,另須交出旅遊證件。

鄧燕娥自80年代初開始參與工人運動,曾任職基督教工業委員和香港職工會聯盟達30年。其後於2010年代起組織全球各地家務工,有份推動成立香港亞洲家務工工會聯會,並於2013年當選國際家務工聯會創會秘書長。

鄧於3月9日在香港赤柱監獄外後被國安部警察帶走,據報她當時剛探望丈夫,在囚工運領袖李卓人,在離開監獄時,被國安人員以涉嫌干犯「勾結外國或者境外勢力危害國家安全罪」被捕。
