Whatever can’t be done in Hong Kong, we’ll do it here. Let’s keep it going and carry on the unfulfilled dreams of the people in Hong Kong

Alex Tang, Former Chairperson of the Hong Kong Information Technology Workers’ Union (HKITWU)

Alex Tang founded the HKITWU during the 2019 Hong Kong protests. HKITWU aimed to unite IT professionals in support of pro-democracy protests and raise public awareness about digital security. HKITWU was outspoken in its concerns about the government’s abuse of technology to violate individual privacy. Alex was elected as the deputy chairperson of the Hong Kong Confederation of Trade Unions until its dissolution in 2021. After relocating to the UK, he secured employment with a British FinTech company. He maintains contact with IT professionals in the Hong Kong diaspora community and is working to establish a support network. Additionally, Alex volunteers for various Hong Kong diaspora groups and continues to contribute to the movement through his profession.
