Ex-HKCTU members taken by national security police for questioning

Former Hong Kong Confederation of Trade Unions (HKCTU) Chairman Joe Wong Nai-yuen, former Vice Chairman Leo Tang Kin-Wah, former officers Denny To and Shek Pui-yin were taken away by the Hong Kong national security police at their respective homes to assist an investigation this morning (22 March).

Their phones and computers were confiscated. They are released by noon today.  

According to local media, the former treasurer Chung Chun-fai was taken away by police officers yesterday (21 March). 

This is the Hong Kong National Police’s second operation over the past two weeks targeting trade unionists. 

On 9 March, Elizabeth Tang, General Secretary of International Domestic Workers Federation (IDWF), former Chief Executive of Hong Kong Confederation of Trade Unions (HKCTU) was arrested by National Security Police officers over suspected “collusion with foreign forces”. She was released on 11 March and granted HK$200,000 cash bail and was ordered to hand over her passport as bail conditions.  
 
HKCTU was disbanded in 3 October 2021. The group was accused of failing to provide information to the police in by the Societies Ordinance on 31 March 2022. Chung Chun-fai, Joe Wong Nai-yuen and Leo Tang Kin-Wah were found guilty and were fined HK$8000

兩星期內接連針對工運人士 前職工盟成員被國安警問話

前職工盟主席黃迺元、前副主席鄧建華、前幹事杜振豪及石姵妍在3月22日,於各人處所被警方國安處帶走協助調查,國安處人員並撿走他們的電話及電腦,至今日中午前4人已離開警署。另外,前司庫鍾松輝則於昨日(21日)協助警方調查。

職工盟在前年10月3日解散。去年3月31日,職工盟被指未有按《社團條例》向警方提交資料,黃迺元、鄧建華及鍾松輝被票控一項《社團條例》中「沒有遵從通知規定提交資料罪」,同年11月,3人認罪被罰款8000元

這是在過去兩星期內,香港國安處警察第二度展開針對香港工運人士的行動。國際家務工聯會秘書長、前職工盟總幹事鄧燕娥3月9日於香港被國安人員以涉嫌勾結外國勢力罪帶走,經兩日通宵扣查後,於3月11日獲准以20萬現金保釋候查,另須交出旅遊證件。
